Youth Services

Age 1-Kindergarten: Torah Time

For young children and their parent/guardian/other adult… At 10:30 on Shabbat mornings, Dr. Marlene Herman leads our youngest children in singing, playing games, reading Torah, and enjoying activities and snacks related to the weekly Torah portion. On holiday mornings, they also learn different traditions and songs for that holiday. Parents are invited to stay.

Dr. Herman is the recipient of the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism Baalot Mitzvah award for education and the Keter Shem Tov award from New Jersey Region of United Synagogue.

Grades 1-3: Mini-Minyan

Every Shabbat and holiday morning, children gather to hear stories, sing songs, and discuss the weekly Torah portion.

Grades 4-6: Junior Congregation

Fourth- through sixth-graders discuss how the weekly Torah portion ties in with contemporary issues in their lives. They test their knowledge with trivia contests and games of Jewish Jeopardy.
