Congregational Trip to Poland, August 7-14, 2012

Join Rabbi Malomet and HPCT-CAE on an insightful and fascinating trip this summer to Poland. We have made some important refinements to the planned trip and it will now be a dedicated trip sponsored solely by HPCT-CAE. The trip is open to the entire community. We will explore Jewish civilization that thrived in Poland for many hundreds of years, bear witness to the camps and forests where that civilization was crushed and learn about and connect with nascent Polish Jewish community. This is not only a trip about what was, but will also include the important component of what is today. We will meet with members of the Jewish community including those "New Jews" who have discovered later in life that they have Jewish roots. We will also meet with Poles who are involved in tolerance education as well as Poles who work at keeping Jewish memory alive.
This life changing and insightful trip will be led by Holocaust and Jewish History scholar, Shalmi Barmore who hails from Israel. He is the former Director of Education at Yad Vashem and has spent many years delving into not just how Polish Jews died, but also how they lived. Having accompanied many groups to Poland and other parts of Eastern Europe, he has an expansive depth of knowledge on this subject and his engaging teaching manner will add an educational dimension to our trip that is invaluable.
The trip begins in Warsaw on the August 7, 2012 and ends in Krakow on August 14. The land only price of $1,965 per person, double occupancy includes all (kosher) meals. Personal roots trips can be arranged to specific villages at an additional cost.
