 Hazzan Michael Weis

Mike Weis

Michael Weis is in his final year at the H.L. Miller Cantorial School and College of Jewish Music at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City.  He is also studying for a Master's Degree in Jewish Education at the Davidson School of education at JTS.

Originally from a secular home in the suburbs of Chicago, he graduated from Stanford University in 1986 with a degree in economics before pursuing an acting career in Los Angeles for several years. He later founded and operated a graphic design and printing company for thirteen years. His interest in becoming a cantor grew out of his volunteer experience leading services in a "traditional progressive" synagogue in L.A. where, for the first time as an adult, he was introduced to the depth and beauty of Jewish tradition, and fell in love with the sound of Jewish prayer.

Mike has been the Hazzan at HPCT-CAE since 2007, and also leads the Temple's Hebrew High School program.

 Linda Diamond, Temple Administrator

Linda grew up in Emerson, NJ and graduated from Douglass College.  She worked at JP Morgan Chase for almost 34 years as a Compliance Vice President and took early retirement.  She started her second career in Temple administration after the fire in 2006, coming on board to help out with all the logistics surrounding the dislocation of the Temple.  After a year of being the "interim Administrator" she became our full time administrator in 2007.

Linda can be reached at ldiamond@hpct-cae.org
