How to Help Israel

At this time of uncertainty and crisis in Israel, many of us have been looking for information and ways to help.

The following are some sources of information about the situation, as well as ways that you can help. If you know of additional sites, please feel free to comment on this story.


  • The United Synagogue web site has a number of articles about the situation, including a page with suggestions on how you can help.
  • There is an effort in the Highland Park/Edison community to purchase a fire truck to be used to put out forest fires caused by rocket attacks in northen Israel. The goal is to rais $100,000 dollars by Tisha B'Av. Checks will be collected at Tisha B'Av services, or you can contribute via the JNF web site.
  • JNF is also coordinating other programs, including Operation Security Blanket, which takes children out of Northern Israel and gives them a camp experience elsewhere.
  • The web site of the Masorti Movement in Israel has a collection of personal letters from Masorti Rabbis affected by the events in Israel, as well as a form to contribute.
  • The Jewish Federation of Greater Middlesex County has articles about Israel, and is coordinating local relief efforts.
  • Hadassah is running numerous programs to help Israel. Check their web site for details and ways to contribute.
  • Livnot U'Lehibanot is the primary volunteer agency providing local support for Tzefat. You can donate to their Emergency Relief Fund.
  • The Conference of Presidents and Israel's Ministry of Tourism have partnered to launch a program to assist the tourism industry in Israel's northern region, by allowing you to pay for accommodations now and use them later. Click here for more information.
